The Immutability of Christ

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." (Hebrews 13:8)

Just as God the Father is immutable, so is Jesus, the Only Begotten Son of God. He is before eternity and subsists with God before the beginning of the worlds. There were still no established dimensions and heavenly realms of light, and He was in counsel with the Father in the project of the Creation of the domains of existence and life. As is the Father, so is the Son, the exact expression of the Almighty Eternal, according to His Sublime Person, glory and power, even though the Father is greater, and the Father, Son and Holy Spirit subsist in perfect unity and agreement, so that they are One, even though in three divine persons. The same attributes that belong to the Father are also to the Son. One of God's attributes is that He is Immutable, as He is Full and Perfect. So also Christ the Lord, even having once clothed himself with our humanity, in His divine person and in His character, is Immutable, Full and Perfect. He, God the Son, is the same eternally, and in his person, he continued to be the same while he was on earth, and he has never ceased or will cease to be who he is since aways.

"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:3)

The person, personality and character of the Son of God do not change. He, in his divine Person, is always the same, holy, faithful, wise, just and true, as he is also perfect, loving, merciful, meek and humble of heart. Christ, at His first coming, was sent into the world not to judge the world, but to save it, proclaiming the Gospel and bringing us back the Kingdom of God, by the manifestation of righteousness and by the witness of the truth, delivering His own perfect life to satisfy the justice of God, which was against us, dying for our sins. But at His second coming He will now come no more to die for sinners, but to judge the world. He will come to judge all the murderers, the depraved, and the unbelievers who remained in darkness, did not repent, and loved injustice to the end. The Lord's first coming was of peace and salvation for all those who believe, because of God's mercy and love, but His second coming will be of retribution and judgment. Like the Father, the Lord is just and impartial to judge those who practice evil works, as he is also faithful and merciful to forgive those who believe and repent.

"For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son." (John 5:22)

"And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats." (Matthew 25:32)

It is certain that Christ's condition and authority was changeable, and could change, when he came down from heaven and became man to carry out the work of our salvation. While on Earth, the Lord's condition and authority were subject to His humanity, even though remained God, in His person, in the condition of the New Adam of the human race, in the condition of a man, even though incorruptible and coming from Heaven, the New Matrix Man of humanity, this time spiritual, which He became, for our sake and for our salvation. He was tried and he won, perfect, innocent and sinless. The Son of God, in His person, is the same eternally. The Jesus who is in the Bible, the Faithful and divinely authorized Scripture that bears witness to the Lord and to the work of salvation, this same Jesus is the unchanging person of God the Son, even if incarnate, who has always existed since before eternal times and will always exist. His person, His eternal Being, His personality and His character do not and cannot change, because like the Father, He is eternally perfect. He, even though he clothed himself in our humanity to save us, is the same person always, the Son of God, the Firstborn and Word of Creation, who existed with God in spirit before all things were created.

"And now, O Father, glorify you me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world was." (John 17:5)

The Testimony of Christ is the Holy Scriptures and the lives of all those who believed in Him and were saved through Faith. The disciples of Christ, who have been transformed and reborn in spirit by Faith, are also legitimate bearers of His testimony, but the greater, authoritative, and certified witness to the life and work of Jesus is the Biblical Scriptures. The same Jesus who is in the Scriptures is the one we must know, serve and preach today, always and to the end. He, in His person, is the same eternally. The same Jesus who said, "Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) and who also said, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 4:17), it is the same Jesus who died for our sins, conquered death, risen again and ascended to the right hand of God, having received all power and authority in Heaven and on Earth, made the Prince of our Salvation, the who from heaven intercedes for us, waiting for all His enemies to be dust under His feet. He is the same Jesus who will soon return to establish the Kingdom of God in fullness on earth, where all the saved who have believed will be resurrected bodily in immortality and incorruptible glory to reign forever in an existence of perpetual glory, justice and peace among all those who who are called by the Name of the Lord. The same Jesus of the Gospels is and must be the same Jesus that we believe, live and preach today, until the end time and forever. The same character of the Son of God witnessed in the Scriptures must be the character of the Christ we preach today, and it must be forever, because He, in His person, is Immutable. He is the same and does not change eternally. He is the Lord of Heaven, Sovereign, Almighty, All-Wise, Omniscient, Perfect, Invincible, Infallible, Meek, Humble, Loving, Righteous, Faithful, Just and True, who treats sin harshly but who is also merciful and great in forgiving those who look to His Cross, repent and believe.

"And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through his name." (John 20:30-31)

We cannot believe in a Christ witnessed in one way in the Scriptures, but preached in a completely different way in our day. The same Jesus who demanded conversion and repentance, through a legitimate faith, while he was on earth at his first coming, is the same one we must preach today, in our days, regardless of the multiplication of science and the evolution of times. The Lord has power to restore people's lives, and He always does, but the first message He gave us was this: "And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent you, and believe the gospel." (Mark 1:15). The first thing that a human being must know is not the transformation of his earthly life from poor to rich, nor even the miraculous benefits of divine healings, which, if they exist, only see after faith for salvation arises. The first thing is also not the prize of social friendship or simple acceptance and aggregation in a social institution. The first thing that human beings must know is that there is a God in Heaven above us, Loving, Forgiving but also Just and Holy, that this world is a fallen world, that the first man sinned and passed on corruption and death to all people, and therefore, all are under sin, sentenced to eternal damnation and who urgently need to renounce the Devil's Kingdom, abandoning the world and sin, that no one can be righteous on their own merits and that only through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, there is a possibility of salvation for people, if they have faith in the Gospel of the Word of God. As the Lord is Immutable, so is the Gospel. The same message that the Lord and the apostles preached must be the message that we preach today, even though these are different and extremely advanced times. The same Christ that is in the Scriptures must be the same Christ that we preach today, even as men try to break the boundaries of earth and heaven, life and death, in a vain attempt to equal the eternal power of the Creator. Even now the Lord being in heaven, having conquered all things, exalted at the right hand of God, He, in His person, is the same one who became flesh, was born as a man, lived among us touching our hands and letting himself be seen how Immanuel, God Among Us, preached the truth, restored to us the Kingdom of God, died for our sins and risen again for our justification, if only we would open our inner ears and eyes and let go of the grace and love of the truth from God shine by His light in our hearts.
